Back and Neck Injuries

Joseph Pilates, the noted founder of the Pilates health system wrote, ” your only as young, as your spine is flexible.”.   Like the trunk of a tree, your back and neck are the foundation of your entire body structure.  A serious back injury can destroy that foundation. For example, a spinal injury can result in a young worker having the same physical restrictions as someone in their 80’s.

Work related injuries to an employee’s spine can occur over time (cumulative trauma), or as a result of a one time specific event. Below are just some of the worker’s compensation injuries that can occur to the back and the neck.

Examples of Back and Neck Injuries

  • Herniated or Bulging disk’s.
  • Fractured Vertebrate
  • Muscle Strain
  • Stenosis
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Facet Joint Pain
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Bone Spurs
  • Radiculopathy
  • Sprained Ligament

Help is available

Diagnosing the above injuries without a CT/MRI Scan can be difficult. If you think your back or neck has been hurt it is very important that you notify your employer immediately and then seek out the best medical care that your worker’s compensation insurance carrier offers.  A good worker’s compensation attorney can help you navigate the insurance system and help you obtain the best medical treatment available.
